O-Rides and Aircraft
8/12/12
As everyone knows, we have been doing a tremendous amount of flying recently. National headquarters wants to see us fly the plane 200 hours per year and to help reach that goal we have been spending quality time with our cadets flying O-Rides in the plane. I want to personally thank all the cadets, their parents and our excellent pilots for making this all happen. It has been a great team effort and we need to keep our beautiful airplane in the air.

Leadership Quote

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Cadet Commander's Welcome:
Hello and thank you for visiting the Easton Composite Squadron website. As you explore our website, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about the opporunities that have been afforded to me during my CAP career. I received my very first flight was I was 10 years old with Civil Air Patrol and I was give the opportunity to take over the controls. I had known that I wanted to be a pilot, which had drawn me to this program in the first place, but that experience emboldened my dream. Civil Air Patrol helped me chase after those dreams in the following years.
My proudest accomplishment was graduating from the 2008 Maryland Wing Solo School where I completed my first solo flight and private pilot ground school course. Ten months later, I passed my check ride at the Easton airport and received my private pilot's license. I went on to gain permission to fly CAP aircraft and I am continuing training with the CAP now in pursuit of an Instrument Rating.
I hope that my experiences in Civil Air Patrol portray the opportunities that we have to offer. CAP has helped me obtain my dreams in life, and I am confident that the program can help you do the same. I look forward to meeting you at our squadron and seeing how CAP can help further your endeavors!
Matthew C. Hughes, C/Lt Col, CAP
